While a driver is on an active load, PortPro continuously checks the ETA. We have two types of ETAs:
- sETA (starting ETA): The initial estimate when the trip begins.
- cETA (current ETA): The updated estimate during the trip.
For example, if the sETA is 2 hours, the system checks again and the cETA might now be 2 hours and 19 minutes. If the difference between the cETA and sETA (cETA - sETA) is greater than or equal to the allowed difference (delta), we will update the ETA. If the difference is less than or equal to the delta, the ETA will remain unchanged. So, in this example the difference is 19 minutes and that is greater than the delta of 18 mins, so the ETA would be updated. Had the difference been 17 mins, it wouldn’t have been updated. Below are the accepted delta limits based on time:
ETA | Delta |
2 hour | 18 min |
1 hour | 9 min |
45 min | 6 min 45 sec |
30 min | 4 min 30 sec |
15 min | 2 min 15 sec |
6 min | 1 min 30 sec |
3 min | 1 min 30 sec |
1 min | 1 min |
PortPro is currently taking the mobile app ETA first, regardless if the driver has ELD connected. If the driver doesn’t have mobile app connected, we will use ELD.
