The Moves Screen is the primary dashboard in PortPro for managing daily container and support move operations. It allows dispatchers to view move events for a selected date and provides flexible filtering and categorization by event type or move status. This guide walks through how to interpret and use the Moves Screen, breaking it down by each interactive section.

What Is the Moves Screen?
The Moves Screen is designed to help teams manage their move activity in a visual, event-focused format. The page loads moves for the selected day (defaulting to Today) and displays:
Every move scheduled for that date, even if it’s not the next sequential move
Categorization by event type (pickup, delivery, return, hook)
Grouping by move progress status (unassigned, assigned, in progress, completed)
The screen is split into two main views: the Event Section and the Status Section.
Navigating the Moves Screen
To access the Moves Screen:
Go to the top navigation bar on the Dispatch page and click on “Moves.”
Use the date filter in the top-right to select the date (default: Today).
Choose between Event or Status section using the tab toggle.
Each move will be shown as a card containing:
Move type and time
Status (assigned/unassigned/in progress/completed)
Container number, chassis, driver, location
Action buttons (edit, assign, etc.)
Event Section
The Event Section groups moves by type of move:
Containers to Pickup: Displays containers with a last free day or pickup appointment on the selected date.
Containers to Deliver/Get Loaded: Shows containers with a delivery appointment on the selected date.
Containers to Hook: Includes containers with a hook appointment on the selected date.
Containers to Return: Details containers with a return appointment, per diem last free day, or cutoff on the selected date.
Assigned: Presents moves scheduled for the selected date with an assigned driver. Subcards indicate whether the move is in progress or completed.
Each event card is further divided into subcards:
Unassigned: Moves scheduled for the selected date without an assigned driver. (e.g., Pickup scheduled without driver assignment).
Assigned: Moves scheduled for the selected date with a driver assigned. (e.g., Pickup scheduled with driver assignment).
In Progress: Moves scheduled for the selected date where the driver is en route or has arrived at the location. (e.g., Pickup scheduled and driver is en route or arrived).
Completed: Moves scheduled for the selected date where the driver has completed the event. (e.g., Pickup completed and driver is en route to the next event).
Status Section
The Status Section groups moves by their current progress status:
Unassigned: Displays moves with no driver assigned that have pickup/deliver/hook or return scheduled for the selected date filter.
Assigned: Displays moves with driver assigned but not yet in progress with pickup/deliver/hook or return schedule for the selected date filter.
In Progress: Displays moves in progress with pickup/deliver/hook or return scheduled for the selected date filter.
Completed: Displays moves that are completed with pickup/deliver/hook or return scheduled for the selected date filter.
Each status group contains subcards categorized by move type:
Pickup: Moves with pickup for the selected date based on status. ( lfd, pickup apt )
For eg: Pickup subcard under assigned card shows moves that needed to be picked up on the selected day with assigned driver but not yet in progress.
Deliver: Moves with delivery for the selected date based on status for the selected date.(delivery apt )
Hook: Moves with hook for the selected date based on status for the selected date. (hook apt)
Return: Moves that have a return event for containers that need to return on the selected date based on status. ( cuttoff, return apt, per diem lfd )
This layout helps dispatchers focus on task flow progression.
How to Assign Moves
There are several ways to assign moves within the Moves Screen interface. Each method offers flexibility depending on workflow preferences and urgency. Below are the supported assignment options and the step-by-step process for each.
1. Assigning from the Event Section
Use when: Focusing on specific move types (Pickup, Delivery, etc.)
Steps:
Navigate to the Event Section tab.
Click to expand the relevant Unassigned subcard (e.g., Containers to Pickup).
Locate the move to assign.
In the Driver column, click the dropdown menu.
Select the appropriate driver.
Once assigned, the move will automatically shift to the Assigned subcard.
2. Assigning from the Status Section
Use when: Managing moves by urgency or progress status.
Steps:
Switch to the Status Section tab.
Expand the Unassigned card.
Review all move types grouped together.
Select a driver using the dropdown as described above.
3. Assigning Multiple Moves within the Load
Use when: Assigning multiple events tied to the same load.
Steps:
Click on the container number to open the Load.
View all related events (pickup, delivery, return, etc.)
Assign each move within the panel using dropdowns.
4. Assigning via Driver Planner (Contextual to Moves Page)
For full-day scheduling and visual assignment via drag-and-drop:
Refer to Driver Planner KB for step-by-step details.
Pro Tip: You can assign multiple moves back-to-back to a driver in one section before switching views.
Key Differences from Legacy Routing
Legacy Logic | Moves Page Logic |
---|---|
Shows only next move per load | Shows all moves scheduled for selected date |
Load must be dropped + ready to appear in return | Return events appear if return appointment/cutoff exists |
Dropped card used for returns | Hook and Return now have their own event cards |
Sequence determines visibility | Appointment date determines visibility |
